The public-transport version starts at Romford (the Elizabeth line) and finishes at Swanley (National Rail), with a connecting bus at the far end. The catch is that there is no service to the circuit itself, so you end up in a taxi from the station regardless. A car does the whole thing door to door in about 40 min, or 1h when the roads are full - and it does it with your bags in the boot. It is a fair fight on the way there. On the way back, when several thousand people want the same platform, it stops being one.

Driving yourself to Brands Hatch means joining the same single-file exit as everyone else, and the car parks empty in one slow wave rather than continuously. Pre-booked both ways, none of that is your problem.
Gates open well before the first race and the roads in are single-file near the course. Leaving Havering about 1h ahead of when you want to be through the turnstile is the timing that holds up.
