By rail you would go Angel (the Northern line) across to Arsenal (the Piccadilly line), then a 5-minute walk at the far end. The catch is that Arsenal station is exit-only for a spell after full time. A car does the whole thing door to door in about 10 min, or 20 min when the roads are full - and it does it with your bags in the boot. If you are travelling light and early, the train usually wins on price. If you are in a group, carrying anything, or leaving after an event, the car wins on everything else.

Islington runs a matchday parking and road-closure zone around the ground, so the pickup point sits a few streets out on Hornsey Road.
