By rail you would go Kingston (South Western Railway) across to Esher (National Rail), then a 8-minute walk at the far end. The catch is that it is a short walk but a thin evening service. If you are travelling light and early, the train usually wins on price. If you are in a group, carrying anything, or leaving after an event, the car wins on everything else.
From the KT1, KT2, KT3, KT5, KT6, KT9 streets the route runs via the A3 then the A308 then the A240, finishing on M25 J10, then A3 and A307 Portsmouth Road. Roughly 7.0 miles, and the timing swings with the hour rather than the route: 20 min clear, 35 min loaded.
