By public transport: North Downs line direct to Gatwick, about 75–90 min. The catch is hourly trains and a long ride. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 50 min, or 75 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Wokingham (RG40 / RG41) the route runs south to the M3, east to the M25 and round to the M23. Coming back from Gatwick the driver follows the M23, the M25 and the M3 back to Wokingham. That is about 45 miles: reckon 50 min off-peak and 75 min when the M25 between junctions 7 and 12 is busy.
