The public-transport version starts at Borough (the Northern line) and finishes at Charlton (National Rail), with a 6-minute walk at the far end. The catch is that it is a limited service, and weekend engineering works are common. Door to door by road is about 25 min, or 45 min when the roads are full, with no changes, no stairs and no queue at the barrier. It is a fair fight on the way there. On the way back, when several thousand people want the same platform, it stops being one.
Out of Borough (SE1) the driver picks up the A3 then the A100, joining A102 then A206 Woolwich Road for the run-in. Roughly 8.4 miles, and the timing swings with the hour rather than the route: 25 min clear, 45 min loaded.

If you were thinking of driving yourself: The Valley sits inside a matchday or event-day controlled parking zone, on-site spaces are pre-book only and go early, and the residential streets around it are permit-holders only with active enforcement. Pre-booked both ways, none of that is your problem.
Doors are usually an hour before the match. Working back, that means leaving Borough around 45 min plus that hour on a busy night - and booking the return at the same time, because the road out is slower than the road in.
