The public-transport version starts at Borough (the Northern line) and finishes at North Greenwich (the Jubilee line), with a 5-minute walk at the far end. The catch is that the Jubilee platforms are a crush for 40 minutes after a show empties. A car does the whole thing door to door in about 25 min, or 40 min when the roads are full - and it does it with your bags in the boot. It is a fair fight on the way there. On the way back, when several thousand people want the same platform, it stops being one.

If you were thinking of driving yourself: The O2 Arena sits inside a matchday or event-day controlled parking zone, on-site spaces are pre-book only and go early, and the residential streets around it are permit-holders only with active enforcement.
