By rail Thameslink runs north from Cricklewood towards Luton Airport Parkway, though some journeys need a change, and the DART finishes the trip.
By public transport: Thameslink towards Luton Airport Parkway, then the DART, about 45–60 min. The catch is a possible change and the DART with luggage. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 30 min, or 55 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Cricklewood (NW2) the route runs up the Edgware Road to Staples Corner and straight onto the M1. Coming back from Luton the driver follows the M1 and Staples Corner back down to Cricklewood. That is about 25 miles: reckon 30 min off-peak and 55 min when Staples Corner is busy.
