By rail it is about 40 minutes from Egham to London Waterloo, then the Bakerloo line to Paddington and the Heathrow Express.
By public transport: Train to Waterloo, then the Bakerloo line to Paddington and the Heathrow Express, about 85–105 min. The catch is the change in London and the walk with luggage. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 12 min, or 25 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Egham (TW20) the route runs east on the A30 over the M25 and round to your terminal. Coming back from Heathrow the driver follows the A30 back over the M25 to Egham. That is about 6 miles: reckon 12 min off-peak and 25 min when the A30 at the M25 is busy.
