By car the driver heads west through Hersham and Walton-on-Thames to Sunbury, then the M3 and the A30 to the airport.
By rail it is about 25 minutes from Esher to London Waterloo, then the Bakerloo line to Paddington and the Heathrow Express.
By public transport: Train to Waterloo, then the Bakerloo line to Paddington and the Heathrow Express, about 70–90 min. The catch is a change in London with all your luggage. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 25 min, or 40 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
