Around 15.0 miles door to door, 35 min when the roads are behaving. From £80, locked at booking, with no meter running and no surge applied.
A taxi from Merton to The O2 Arena is £80 in a saloon, £100 in a 6-seat MPV and £115 in an 8-seater. It is about 15.0 miles and 35 min off-peak, or 1h 05m in traffic. The fare is fixed at the moment you book and covers tolls, the driver's waiting time and your luggage.
| Vehicle | Capacity | Fixed fare |
|---|---|---|
| Saloon | up to 4 passengers, 2 large cases | from £80 |
| MPV | up to 6 passengers, 4 large cases | from £100 |
| 8-seater | up to 7 passengers, 7 large cases | from £115 |
Per vehicle, not per person. Tolls, congestion and crossing charges are already inside the price, and it does not change on the day.
By rail you would go Wimbledon (District, National Rail and Tramlink) across to North Greenwich (the Jubilee line), then a 5-minute walk at the far end. The catch is that the Jubilee platforms are a crush for 40 minutes after a show empties. The taxi is about 35 min, or 1h 05m when the roads are full, but it is one journey rather than three, and nobody stands up for any of it. It is a fair fight on the way there. On the way back, when several thousand people want the same platform, it stops being one.
Out of Merton (SW19, SW20, CR4) the driver picks up the A24 then the A219, joining A102 Blackwall Tunnel Approach, then Millennium Way for the run-in. About 15.0 miles in all - 35 min when it flows, 1h 05m when it does not.
We cover the whole of Merton - SW19, SW20, CR4 - including the streets where flagging something down is a matter of luck rather than timing.
Private hire pickup is next to Car Park 3, past the Tesco on Millennium Way - not the main Entrance A forecourt, which is coach and black-cab only. The Blackwall and Silvertown tunnels are free between 22:00 and 06:00, so a return leg after a late finish costs the same as the outbound. Your driver sends the exact standing point and the registration before they set off, so you are not circling a car park looking for a number plate.
Address: Peninsula Square, Greenwich Peninsula, SE10 0DX.
If you were thinking of driving yourself: The O2 Arena sits inside a matchday or event-day controlled parking zone, on-site spaces are pre-book only and go early, and the residential streets around it are permit-holders only with active enforcement. A drop-off and a booked return sidesteps it entirely.
Doors are usually an hour before the gig. Working back, that means leaving Merton around 1h 05m plus that hour on a busy night - and booking the return at the same time, because the road out is slower than the road in.
£80 in a saloon, £100 in a 6-seat MPV and £115 in an 8-seater. That is the fixed price, agreed at booking.
Door to door the car is about 35 min off-peak. The rail alternative is Wimbledon to North Greenwich plus the walk, which is competitive going out and considerably slower coming back.
Private hire pickup is next to Car Park 3, past the Tesco on Millennium Way - not the main Entrance A forecourt, which is coach and black-cab only. You get the exact point and the registration by text beforehand.
No. The fare is fixed when you book. Traffic, tolls and the hour are our problem, not a line on your bill.
A 6-seat MPV is £100 and an 8-seater £115. Bigger parties travel in several vehicles routed together.
Card, bank transfer or a business account, before or after the journey. A VAT receipt is issued either way.
The driver waits. We watch venue finish times rather than working to a fixed clock, so a late curtain does not leave you stranded or cost you extra.
Fares are fixed at booking and shown per vehicle. Distances and journey times are approximate and vary with traffic and the exact pickup address. Page reviewed 7 September 2026.
