By rail it is the Jubilee line from Swiss Cottage to Bond Street and then the Elizabeth line to Heathrow. It works well for one person, though Bond Street's interchange is long.
By car the driver heads down the Finchley Road through St John's Wood and Maida Vale onto the Westway, then out to the airport.
By public transport: Jubilee line to Bond Street, then the Elizabeth line to Heathrow, about 45–60 min. The catch is a long interchange at Bond Street with luggage. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 40 min, or 65 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Swiss Cottage (NW3 / NW6) the route runs down the Finchley Road through St John's Wood and Maida Vale to the Westway, then the A312 or M4. Coming back from Heathrow the driver follows the M4 or A312, the Westway and Maida Vale back up to Swiss Cottage. That is about 15 miles: reckon 40 min off-peak and 65 min when the Westway and Hanger Lane is busy.
