By rail you would go East Croydon (Southern, Thameslink and the Gatwick Express) across to North Greenwich (the Jubilee line), then a 5-minute walk at the far end. The catch is that the Jubilee platforms are a crush for 40 minutes after a show empties. A car does the whole thing door to door in about 35 min, or 1h when the roads are full - and it does it with your bags in the boot. It is a fair fight on the way there.
