The public-transport version starts at Angel (the Northern line) and finishes at North Greenwich (the Jubilee line), with a 5-minute walk at the far end. The catch is that the Jubilee platforms are a crush for 40 minutes after a show empties. A car does the whole thing door to door in about 25 min, or 40 min when the roads are full - and it does it with your bags in the boot. It is a fair fight on the way there. On the way back, when several thousand people want the same platform, it stops being one.
The usual line from Angel is the A1 Upper Street then the A501, then A102 Blackwall Tunnel Approach, then Millennium Way at the end. About 7.6 miles in all - 25 min when it flows, 40 min when it does not.
In Angel the pavement outside your door is often the one place a car cannot stop. We agree the point in N1 up front and the driver is on it, not circling.

The Blackwall and Silvertown tunnels are free between 22:00 and 06:00, so a return leg after a late finish costs the same as the outbound. If you were thinking of driving yourself: The O2 Arena sits inside a matchday or event-day controlled parking zone, on-site spaces are pre-book only and go early, and the residential streets around it are permit-holders only with active enforcement. Pre-booked both ways, none of that is your problem.
