London Bridge has direct Thameslink and Southern trains to Gatwick, taking about half an hour. For one person with light bags it is the obvious choice.

Out of London Bridge (SE1) the route runs south through Elephant and Castle, Kennington and Streatham to the A23 and M23. Coming back from Gatwick the driver follows the M23 and A23 north through Streatham and Kennington to SE1. That is about 28 miles: reckon 60 min off-peak and 90 min when Kennington and Streatham is busy.
