By rail you would go Sutton (Southern and Thameslink) across to Twickenham (National Rail), then a 12-minute walk at the far end. The catch is that the station is queue-managed for over an hour after internationals. Door to door by road is about 30 min, or 50 min when the roads are full, with no changes, no stairs and no queue at the barrier. Two people with hand luggage should take the train. Three or more, or anyone with a case, and the fixed fare splits better than the tickets do.
Out of Sutton (SM1, SM2, SM3, SM4, SM5, SM6) the driver picks up the A217 then the A232 then the A24, joining A316 Chertsey Road, then Whitton Road for the run-in. About 12.8 miles in all - 30 min when it flows, 50 min when it does not.
Sutton pickups take in all of SM1, SM2, SM3, SM4, SM5, SM6. Controlled parking zones and one-way systems are the driver's problem to solve, not yours.
Rugby Road or the Whitton Road end; the A316 side is closed to standing traffic on international days. On international days the roads inside the cordon shut about two hours before kick-off, so drivers meet on Rugby Road or Craneford Way. If you were thinking of driving yourself: Allianz Stadium, Twickenham sits inside a matchday or event-day controlled parking zone, on-site spaces are pre-book only and go early, and the residential streets around it are permit-holders only with active enforcement. Being dropped at the door and collected at an agreed point removes the whole problem.
