The public-transport version starts at Uxbridge (the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines) and finishes at Ascot (National Rail), with a 7-minute walk at the far end. The catch is that it is packed solid on Royal Ascot days. A car does the whole thing door to door in about 35 min, or 50 min when the roads are full - and it does it with your bags in the boot. It is a fair fight on the way there. On the way back, when several thousand people want the same platform, it stops being one.

Driving yourself to Ascot Racecourse means joining the same single-file exit as everyone else, and the car parks empty in one slow wave rather than continuously. Being dropped at the door and collected at an agreed point removes the whole problem.
Gates open well before the first race and the roads in are single-file near the course. Leaving Uxbridge about 50 min ahead of when you want to be through the turnstile is the timing that holds up.
