By public transport: Train to Waterloo, then the Jubilee line to Canning Town and the DLR, about 90–110 min. The catch is changing trains in central London with cases. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 70 min, or 105 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Ascot (SL5) the route runs east on the A30 and the M4 into London, then through the City to the Limehouse Link. Coming back from London City the driver follows the Limehouse Link, the City and the M4 back to Ascot.
