The public-transport version starts at Ilford (the Elizabeth line) and finishes at North Greenwich (the Jubilee line), with a 5-minute walk at the far end. The catch is that the Jubilee platforms are a crush for 40 minutes after a show empties. A car does the whole thing door to door in about 25 min, or 40 min when the roads are full - and it does it with your bags in the boot. It is a fair fight on the way there. On the way back, when several thousand people want the same platform, it stops being one.
Out of Redbridge (IG1, IG2, IG4, IG8) the driver picks up the A12 then the A406, joining A102 Blackwall Tunnel Approach, then Millennium Way for the run-in. About 7.9 miles in all - 25 min when it flows, 40 min when it does not.

If you were thinking of driving yourself: The O2 Arena sits inside a matchday or event-day controlled parking zone, on-site spaces are pre-book only and go early, and the residential streets around it are permit-holders only with active enforcement. Pre-booked both ways, none of that is your problem.
