The public-transport version starts at Waterloo (Jubilee, Northern, Bakerloo and National Rail) and finishes at North Greenwich (the Jubilee line), with a 5-minute walk at the far end. The catch is that the Jubilee platforms are a crush for 40 minutes after a show empties. Door to door by road is about 25 min, or 40 min when the roads are full, with no changes, no stairs and no queue at the barrier. It is a fair fight on the way there. On the way back, when several thousand people want the same platform, it stops being one.
The usual line from Waterloo is the A301 then the A3200, then A102 Blackwall Tunnel Approach, then Millennium Way at the end. That is about 7.5 miles. Reckon 25 min off-peak and 40 min if you are crossing town at the wrong moment.

A drop-off and a booked return sidesteps it entirely.
