From NW4 the driver joins the M1 at its southern end and stays on it all the way to junction 10. There is almost no town driving on the way.
Thameslink runs from Hendon and Mill Hill Broadway to Luton Airport Parkway, but you then need the DART shuttle to the terminal. A car takes you to the door.

The catch is a bus or drive to the station first, then the DART shuttle with cases. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 30 min, or 50 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Hendon (NW4) the route runs straight onto the M1 at Hendon and north to junction 10. Coming back from Luton the driver follows M1 south to the end of the motorway at Hendon. That is about 24 miles: reckon 30 min off-peak and 50 min when the M1 between junctions 1 and 4 is busy.

Hendon has one of London's largest Orthodox Jewish communities. Brent Street and Sentinel Square are lined with kosher shops and restaurants, and there are many shuls, batei midrash and Jewish schools within walking distance.
