Luton has low-cost flights to Tel Aviv when airlines are operating the route. By train it is a bus to Mill Hill Broadway, Thameslink to Luton Airport Parkway and then the DART.
By public transport: Thameslink from Hendon or Mill Hill Broadway to Luton Airport Parkway, then the DART, about 55–80 min. The catch is a bus or drive to the station first, then the DART shuttle with cases. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 25 min, or 45 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Edgware (HA8) the route runs the M1 from junction 4 north to junction 10. Coming back from Luton the driver follows M1 south to junction 4 and into Edgware. That is about 20 miles: reckon 25 min off-peak and 45 min when the M1 around junctions 6 and 8 is busy.
