The public-transport version starts at Old Street (the Northern line) and finishes at Custom House (Elizabeth line and the DLR), with a 5-minute walk at the far end. The catch is that it is fine with one bag and awkward if you are carrying exhibition kit. A car does the whole thing door to door in about 25 min, or 40 min when the roads are full - and it does it with your bags in the boot. Two people with hand luggage should take the train. Three or more, or anyone with a case, and the fixed fare splits better than the tickets do.
Out of Old Street (EC1V, EC1Y) the driver picks up the A501 then the A10, joining A13 then Connaught Bridge and Western Gateway for the run-in. That is about 7.7 miles. Reckon 25 min off-peak and 40 min if you are crossing town at the wrong moment.
