Event & venue transfers
Around 10.4 miles door to door, 30 min when the roads are behaving. From £65, locked at booking, with no meter running and no surge applied.
A taxi from Piccadilly to ExCeL London is £65 in a saloon, £80 in a 6-seat MPV and £90 in an 8-seater. It is about 10.4 miles and 30 min off-peak, or 50 min in traffic. The fare is fixed at the moment you book and covers tolls, the driver's waiting time and your luggage.
| Vehicle | Capacity | Fixed fare |
|---|---|---|
| Saloon | up to 4 passengers, 2 large cases | from £65 |
| MPV | up to 6 passengers, 4 large cases | from £80 |
| 8-seater | up to 7 passengers, 7 large cases | from £90 |
Per vehicle, not per person. Tolls, congestion and crossing charges are already inside the price, and it does not change on the day.
The public-transport version starts at Piccadilly Circus (Bakerloo and Piccadilly) and finishes at Custom House (Elizabeth line and the DLR), with a 5-minute walk at the far end. The catch is that it is fine with one bag and awkward if you are carrying exhibition kit. Door to door by road is about 30 min, or 50 min when the roads are full, with no changes, no stairs and no queue at the barrier. If you are travelling light and early, the train usually wins on price. If you are in a group, carrying anything, or leaving after an event, the car wins on everything else.
The usual line from Piccadilly is the A4 then the A302, then A13 then Connaught Bridge and Western Gateway at the end. Roughly 10.4 miles, and the timing swings with the hour rather than the route: 30 min clear, 50 min loaded.
Piccadilly is dense, one-way and camera-enforced. The driver texts a workable standing point in W1J, W1B instead of guessing, which is the difference between a two-minute wait and a fine.
The Western or Eastern entrance taxi ranks on Western Gateway. ExCeL is over a kilometre end to end, so it matters whether your hall is at the West or East entrance - tell us the hall number when booking. Your driver sends the exact standing point and the registration before they set off, so you are not circling a car park looking for a number plate.
Address: One Western Gateway, Royal Victoria Dock, E16 1XL.
Parking at ExCeL London is limited and the surrounding streets are metered or permit-only, so self-driving usually costs more in time than the fare saves. Being dropped at the door and collected at an agreed point removes the whole problem.
Doors are usually an hour before the event. Working back, that means leaving Piccadilly around 50 min plus that hour on a busy night - and booking the return at the same time, because the road out is slower than the road in.
£65 in a saloon, £80 in a 6-seat MPV and £90 in an 8-seater. That is the fixed price, agreed at booking.
Door to door the car is about 30 min off-peak. The rail alternative is Piccadilly Circus to Custom House plus the walk, which is competitive going out and considerably slower coming back.
The Western or Eastern entrance taxi ranks on Western Gateway. You get the exact point and the registration by text beforehand.
A 6-seat MPV is £80 and an 8-seater £90. Bigger parties travel in several vehicles routed together.
Card, bank transfer or a business account, before or after the journey. A VAT receipt is issued either way.
No. The fare is fixed when you book. Traffic, tolls and the hour are our problem, not a line on your bill.
The driver waits. We watch venue finish times rather than working to a fixed clock, so a late curtain does not leave you stranded or cost you extra.
Fares are fixed at booking and shown per vehicle. Distances and journey times are approximate and vary with traffic and the exact pickup address. Page reviewed 7 September 2026.
