Thameslink from St Pancras runs to Luton Airport Parkway, and the DART shuttle then takes you to the terminal. It is quick for one person but means a station walk and two separate legs.
By car the driver heads up the A41 Finchley Road and joins the M1 at Hendon, then stays on it to junction 10.
By public transport: Walk to St Pancras, Thameslink to Luton Airport Parkway, then the DART, about 55–75 min. The catch is a station walk, a train and the DART shuttle with luggage. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 50 min, or 75 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Euston (NW1) the route runs up the A41 Finchley Road to the M1 at Hendon. Coming back from Luton the driver follows the M1 south, then the A41 back to Euston. That is about 32 miles: reckon 50 min off-peak and 75 min when the Finchley Road and the M1 at Brent Cross is busy.
Luton has one terminal. Your driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a name board, so there is no DART shuttle or bus to work out.
